Tubular Skylights are energy efficient high performance lighting systems designed to light rooms with natural sunlight. A small collector dome on the roof allows sunlight to enter into a highly reflective "light pipe" that extends to the ceiling level. The light pipe is coated with a silver finish mirror quality that allows the full spectrum of sunlight to be channeled and dispersed evenly into a room by means of a diffuser located in the ceiling.

Tubular Skylights are designed to retain roof integrity by minimizing the size of roof penetrations, keeping weather-tight. They are made to eliminate any chance of leaks.

Tubular Skylights emit more light per given area than standard skylights, because of the mirror-like light pipe.

Tubular Skylights are energy efficient. The cylindrical design minimizes the area for direct light to enter and heat up the interior. The thin light pipe radiates any collected heat into the attic area. Since the light pipe acts as a sealed shaft, very little heat escapes up the light pipe, whereas a tremendous amount of heat rises up the large shaft of traditional skylights.

Tubular Skylights scatter 100% of the natural light spectrum, whereas traditional skylights commonly exhibit the direct sunlight "spotlight" effect.

99% of harmful UV rays are absorbed by the tubular skylights special dome, light pipe and diffuser material, thereby eliminating the bleaching effect of direct sunlight on rugs, furniture, artwork etc.

Tubular Skylights are far more economical; a tubular skylight can be installed in less that two hours--a fraction of the time it takes to install a traditional skylight. No painting, no frame work and no drywall required for installation of a tubular skylight.

The Flashing

The flashing or roof jack is constructed of 1100 series heavy gauge 0.60 aluminum. Its round, seamless shape is capable of being installed on virtually any type roof. This heavy duty flashing is designed to weather the elements in any environment.

The round shape of the flashing is designed to dissipate stress uniformly over the entire unit, and allows for easy installation without disturbing much of the roofing material. The forward sloping design minimizes the need for any light reducing elbows. In applications greater than 5/12 pitch (27° angled roof), elbows are required.

The Dome

The dome allows for the sunlight to enter into the light pipe. The low profile appearance allows the skylight to blend into the surrounding roof structure. Dome Material is constructed of 100% Impact Modified Acrylic that provides unsurpassed weatherability and superior impact strength. The dome is UV stabilized, absorbing 99% of the UV rays, and maintains a very clear optical clarity in any environment. Dome material is 20 to 30 times stronger than general purpose acrylic. Most importantly, the dome is mounted in a stress absorbing seamless aluminum collar, which evenly disburses the pressure caused, by expansion and contraction due to temperature changes.

Light Pipe

The light pipe is manufactured with the highest quality optical properties. It is constructed of aluminum and is thin enough to be easily trimmed with a utility knife or shears. The thin wall construction of the light pipe dissipates any heat build-up into the attic space. The design is lab tested, measuring total reflection of 95% (according to ASTM E-1651) and Brightness- Image Clarity 96 (according to ASTM E-430). Each section of pipe is two feet in length.

Trim Ring and Diffuser

3/16 square base conical prism pattern provides maximum efficiency lighting with excellent glare control. Constructed of 100% impact modified UV stabilized acrylic, with the same quality features of the dome. The diffuser is designed with a specific arc that produces the maximum dispersion of light, thereby ensuring no "spotlight" effects. It provides the best light transmittance and scattering capabilities.

The diffuser easily snaps into the trim ring. The trim ring and diffuser assembly is the only piece in the entire kit that the homeowner sees on a daily basis. The trim ring is constructed of seamless aluminum and is powder coated white. The diffuser easily snaps into place for ease of cleaning, yet provides a tight seal to reduce heat loss up the light pipe. It's constructed of hi-impact acrylic, which makes it virtually unbreakable.
