Photowatt - Matrix Solar
Matrix Solar, previously Photowatt, founded in 1979, is now the largest integrated manufacturer of photovoltaic wafers, cells and modules in Europe, and the world leader in thin silicon cell technology. And photovoltaic solutions are growing strong. It holds 5 percent of the international market. That position is the result of strategic decisions on materials and processes that have driven performance enhancements and cost reductions at every stage of manufacturing. Matrix Solar Technologies manufactures state-of-the art cells using its POLIX material.
PHOTOWATT cells are based on multi-crystalline technology. Owing to the most advanced slicing technology in the world, the cells are just 200 m thick, whereas conventional processes provide cell between 300 m and 450 m.
The photovoltaic device manufacturing processes (doping, antireflection layer) are optimised in relation to the silicon properties. The cell front contact grid, which carries the current, is minimized so the cell achieves a high power output. Matrix's constant research effort and manufacturing technology improvements ensure that the cells are reliable and high-powered.
All modules UL and CEC (California Energy Commission) approved.
